History and Geography

Geography at Madron Daniel

The intention of the Geography Curriculum at Madron is to inspire children’s curiosity and interest to explore the world that we live in and to ignite a love of learning. At Madron, we are blessed to be situated right beside the moors and close to the sea so we seek to use this great environment as much as we can. We intend to equip children with geographical skills to develop their knowledge through studying places, people and natural and human environments. This seeks to deepen their understanding of the Earth’s human and physical forms and processes. Geography, by nature, is an investigative subject. Through our teaching, we intend to provoke thought, questions and to encourage children to discover answers to their own questions through exploration and research to enable them to gain a greater understanding and knowledge of the world and their place in it.

History at Madron Daniel

The intention of the History Curriculum at Madron Daniel is to ignite a love of learning by inspiring children’s curiosity and interest in the past. We make use of local Museums, Galleries and outdoor environment as much as possible to enhance our historical topics. We intend to equip children with the skills needed to explore what has happened in the past here in Cornwall and how people’s lives in the past have shaped Britain. Furthermore, by learning about ancient civilisations from different parts of the world, the children can learn from those who have made a difference and influenced our world today.
